Seinfeld is reuniting on Curb? All Signs Point to Yes!

I make no secret about my love of Seinfeld. I have at least one "That's a shame" moment a day. When I have a conversation with Popi it's essentially just reenacting our favorite scenes (with his being "It's a little funky"). So, in honor of the cast of Seinfeld reuniting on the newest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, I would like to share with everyone my favorite Seinfeld Moments.

Like every show, they have had their bad shows (pretty much all of season 1 and "The Voice") but even at its worst they still had some memorable moments (in no particular order):

I love these types of challenges. Creative and unusual challenges with strange parameters tend lead to some of the best design work. I hope tomorrow night's episode is equally as exciting as the last two. Although with a win for Nicholas last week, I have a feeling there will be no living with him this week.

By the way, the "Biggest Lie in Runway History" was a bit of a let down. Am I right?

Starbucks VIA Ready Brew

OH MY GOD! It has finally come. The day when good coffee was made instant. I love coffee…a lot. This VIA thingy really is the best invention. It's almost as great as that stupid wheel invention. Starbucks VIA solves all of my (coffee-related) problems.

Problem 1: Starbucks brewed coffee (even though it is delicious) tends to be too strong for me causing me to have to cream it up (Blah.) But with these VIA things you can get one strong 8oz coffee out of one sleeve or, if you are like me, 2 4oz coffees. And it tastes just as awesome.

Problem 2: I always have to get my coffee on the outside...well not no mo! With hot water from my water cooler and a quick shot in the microwave, I can have a coffee shop quality coffee right here in my office. MMMMM, coffee in my office without having to wash a coffee pot in the ladies room. I may shed a happiness tear.

Problem 3: Dude, coffee is expensive. Seriously, have you ever added up your coffee shop expenses for a month? Holy Mother of God do I spend a lot of money on coffee and coffee accessories. Again, not no mo! Let's do some Math here people, I figured:

$9.95 / 12 (8oz packets) = 0.83¢
0.83¢ / 2 (cups from each packet) = 0.42¢
FINAL COST: 42¢ a cup.

NIIICE. That Lamborghini Murcielago will be mine in no time!

week of 9/21/09

Sing the Changes by Paul McCartney and the Firemen

This is from July but I am still jamming out to this song while soaring down the highway. It's such a great driving tune.

I had slept through the majority of his appearance (i.e. the interview and all the Beatles classics) but woke in time for this song. I love the feel and melody of this tune. I was blown away, not only by the song, but also by the energy of the crowd. After watching this performance I would definitely pay to see him live. He sounded great. Check out Youtube for all the videos from that amazing performance.

Oh, and what is with McCartney, anyway? He kinda looks like an old lady. I think it's the hair. It just doesn't seem right.

Alan Rickman in Dogma

…oh hell, in anything! That man is amazing. The Captain and I rewatched Dogma for about the 100th time last weekend and I fell in love with the Metatron all over again.



I am a little behind in the Harry Potter movies (I hang my head in shame when I say, in both the books and films, I am only on book 4), but I do hope they use Rickman's talent more in the rest of the movies. I find Snape to be very under used in the first 3 movies.

By the way, if you haven't seen Dogma, go see it....NOW!

Kitten Mittens - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I am going to admit that I have never watched this show. Everyone who watches it loves it (my mom won't shut up about it) and I am sure I would too. Honestly, the only reason why I haven't seen it, is because I watch entirely too much TV already. I'm not sure if I want to add another show into my repertoire. I happened to stumble upon this clip last week and have not stopped laughing. It's the 20 sec mark that gets me every time.

My new Dr Marten’s Boots

These were a Birthday present and now that weather has turned (for the BETTER. HA! I said it, I meant it, and I may have stolen yo mama's credit) I can finally where them. EEK! I am so excited.

Back in May, a paper vendor friend of mine stopped in my office to show me some of RIS’ new wares and I couldn’t help but notice her kick ass boots. Turns out they were Dr Martens! I love Docs! I used rock my 8-hole soft leathers from 8^th grade (same pair) until I stupidly left them in the shed at the Capt’s farm 2 years ago (I think they went the way of his 4-wheeler – stolen!). It has been a while so I decided to relive my childhood with an updated pair:

I love these shoes. The best money I ever spent. They have a nice small heal that is kick ass for walking these fine city streets. They look killer with jeans, but I just may rock them with a skirt.

I would like to state for the record that I had stumbled upon this site before it was featured on the Today Show and became hip. Totally ahead of the curve on this one! This site epitomizes the only thing I love about going into a Wal-mart. If only I would have thought to photograph people when I used to hang out at Wal-mart back in High School. However, this site makes me wonder, "What do the people taking the photos look like? Do they look as ridiculous as those they want us to ridicule?"

I'm Never Wrong, Except Maybe This One Time

OK, I know A LOT of useless information. The Captain and I always argue over stupid facts like the actor from this movie was the kid in that 80s commerical. The Captain disagrees, I look it up on the interwebs, and then I yell out "HA! In your face!!" when it turns out I was right.

The Captain and I were having one of these sort of disagreements. This time it was about whether it was Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin who compared themselves to Shia leBouef (or whatever. I refuse to Google his name, I don't want to add to his rating. I hate that kid for ruining Indy 4). I insisted over and over again that it was Peter but the Captain, God love `em stuck to his guns in saying it was Homer.

Well the next day when I got into my office there was an email in my Inbox that was titled "So There!!!! told you." Here is a screen shot of that email:

This is more like a Seinfeld coincidence than an actual event in my life, thus the ".2" title.

Two months ago I was forced to join a new health club. After much research and a few gym tours, I decided to join The Sporting Club at The Bellevue. It's amazing and I am very happy with my decision (well, the $99 a month is a little rough, but it's worth it) it's literally two store fronts from my office and above my subway stop....Perfect.

Anyway.

The locker rooms are on the 1st floor and the cardio equipment is on the 3rd floor. Under normal circumstances I usually do a pre-elliptical work out by taking the stairs, however, yesterday I wasn't feeling too hot so I decided to hop on a free elevator. There was a poster in the elevator advertising a new class given by Ramon, a new instructor. Well, naturally the first thing that comes to my head is "To see Ramon?"



The class sounds really interesting and I am thinking about taking it. Knowing me I will go to one class then never go back. I guess it's a good thing he is an instructor and not the pool guy or else this might happen:



I can't wait for the next time I tell the Captain that I am going to the gym. I suspect he will look at me and say "To see Ramon?"

My New Favorite Bits of Advertising

I have fallen in love with some recent bits of advertising that I have seen around the Philadelphia Underground.

First is a somewhat older Pabst Blue Ribbon campaign. I can hear you know "GET OUT! Pabst has good advertising?" These posters have been up for a while at the Lombard/South Broad Street Line stop:

More recently they changed the adverts on the Walnut Street Stop as well. These are very clever and simple. They look pretty killer in person:

And my Starbucks cup made me smile today. I was surprised that they are printing a 3-4 color cup. I guess when you charge that much for coffee beverages printing costs are nominal. I really like the reinvention of the old mermaid logo:
